It was a very lovely stay there. I slept in the dorm and it was the most silent dorm I have been. The shared kitchen is big enough for everyone and I really enjoyed the silence there. It is perfect for a little break in the nature. I spent some minutes in the hot tub in the morning and felt so good.

My wife & I recently stayed for several days & dined in-house on 2 evenings.
The first evening was great but the second evening (2 nights later) was the disappointing part of our stay.
On the first night, I politely but unsuccessfully attempted to clarify whether the set menu would be lamb rack chops again 2 nights later. The chef replied with a disengeuous response.
In the event, it turned out to be lamb rack chops again on our second evening.
Unfortunately, this time, they were undercooked & bleeding dark blood.
Before eating these, I politely mentioned it to the waitress who I watched talk to the chef.
At the time, the chef was having a very loud conversation with a well known NZ film director.
I watched the chef look in our direction & dismiss our message while he continued his prolonged discussion.
For the record, the (also repeat) crème brulèes were cold, lumpy & unappetising.
I now raise these points as I attempted to give significant feedback quietly & without fuss.
However, this was brushed off by the chef.
The delivery, response & attitude full short of our expectations arising from the establishment’s expensive tariff.
Also, as requested, I have responded to the standard follow up questionnaire inviting our feedback.
Several weeks later, I have only received a brief “holding” response.

Tha accommodation was nicely decorated, all clean and modern. We stayed in the lodge building with a shared bathroom and lounge. The room was comfortable but extremely small. I had a lot of difficulty walking around the bed and to fit our two suitcases in the room.
The shared kitchen was very well appointed and a good meeting place.
There also was a hot tub but that was a bit disappointing, great view though.
There are all different sorts of accommodation, from luxury till budget and a campground opposite.for me it was a bit confusing and mixed up. I loved sitting on the veranda but there were very many sandflies and they were very aggressive. The most from all my traveling through New Zealand. I’ve sprayed insect repellent but got still bitten over 30 times and ended up staying indoors.
A real shame as the surrounding is so nice and calm.

Incredible experience. This is one you must do. So beautiful to be flying amongst the trees. Views were amazing. Guides were exceptional. Thankyou Wyatt & Sarah, you guys made our trip even better.
Get out of the hustle & into a part of nature you'd never normally see. Located on private property.
The walk up is steep but there are plenty of stops to catch your breath. Best value for money. Loved it.

Review of Delta Discovery

Andy was extremely helpful and everything was very well explained and organised. Also in the lead up, Andy reached out personally to provide additional information including what the weather was forecast for the day we were booked. There were many amazing photo opportunities and being self guided, you can stop whenever the mood takes you to have a look around. There is also information on local wildlife and surrounds provided along the way. Would highly recommend.

The kayaking was great and the guide was terrific. But when we arrived, the trip organizer did not show. We waited for over two and a half hours and finally got someone who knew the organizer to contact him. He finally showed and offered a very poor excuse. Said we could go with the group in the afternoon. When you are on vacation, every day is precious and it was a big waste of time for a lot of the day. When we showed up for the pm trip, he was pretty unpleasant.

The guides and safety of the activity are topnotch. I felt safer doing this than walking the suspension bridge on the Hooker Valley Track. Haha.
The ziplining is totally AMAZING!! Ziplining down the gorgeous river is such an unbelievable experience!
The climb up to the first zipline is not easy, but it is totally worth it!

If you're looking for a unique dining experience after a day of hiking, look no further! All the food was delicious, we had satay squash and slow-cooked lamb, and sticky date pudding. It's such a lovely ambience with the fire roaring and the candlelit tables!

My goodness, what a perfect way to start the day! A gorgeous drive from Queenstown to Glenorchy to be met by a funny, charismatic group of guides where the experience starts with humour and some light education on the area. We arrive at the 'headquarters' and we run through the safety bits and all have a try practising the trial zips.

Then follows a walk up to the first zip, just a lazy 100 metre drop where I did question my decision for a few seconds, to be reassured by the guide that I will in fact, be ok. Thankfully I listened to him because by the end of the first zip I was like 'more, more!'. 8 zips in total, my favourite being Pog Ma Thoin!

Truly a one off experience, book!!!!

What an amazing experience! I was incredibly nervous to try zip lining and I also have issues with my knees which I knew would make climbing the hill to the start of the zip lines a challenge. Our guides Andre and Poppy were very patient and kind and made every effort to ensure I was comfortable which decreased my anxiety considerably.
The location is stunning which definitely adds to the experience.
I am so glad I went, it really was an enormous amount of fun and can thoroughly recommend even for those who are as nervous as I was. Standing on the edge of the first drop my heart was in my mouth but once I set off it was just thrilling.

Stunning location for some rest n relaxation. Or plenty of walking and outdoor activities nearby if that’s your thing. Enjoyed just taking in the vista along with tasty snacks. We stayed in an eco lodge which had all we needed. Definitely need to apply sandfly repellent. A non toxic variety was supplied. A tranquil vibe. It’s about a 75min drive from Queenstown around the lake.

We booked the jet boat and funyaks experience for February 2024. It was a fantastic experience overall - great scenery, balance of adventure/relaxation, and staff. If given the chance, make sure you cliff jump near the canyon!

Review of Heli Glenorchy

Really wanted to see the Earnslaw Glacier but couldn’t fathom the 7 hour hike up alone so I found Heli Glenorchy. Absolutely stunning and smooth flight on a clear sunny day! Pilot was very helpful with photo taking. I only wish we could’ve stayed up there longer.

I was really disappointed to be honest. You can forgive a lot of a place is clean and the room and shared facilities were a bit grubby. Found previous occupants tissues behind the bed and there are splatted insects dotted around the bathroom. The location is great, but we wouldn't stay here again. It feels like backpackers accommodation at 4 star Hotel prices.

Our stay at Kinloch Wilderness Retreat far exceeded my expectations. Our rooms were very comfortable and access to the living area and library/game room and front porch made the visit particularly delightful. There were plenty of opportunities to "lounge" and relax. One in our party initially had some concern about sharing a bathroom. However, it never presented a problem and the bathrooms were always accessible, spacious and clean and tidy. We particularly appreciated the opportunity to bring our own food and drink and to have use of the large kitchen and dining hall. Space for our food was provided in a large refrigerated section and also in individual plastic containers intended for shelf staples. The lodge provided ways to label everything. It was delightful meeting other trekkers from around the world and sharing cooking, food and conversation. We took a kayak trip which was also wonderful and a great way to see the great beauty of the area. The retreat was close to the Routeburn Track and other hiking areas as well as some filming locations for the Lord of the Rings trilogy. It was all splendid. Staff were personable and helpful. I would highly recommend this place and hope to return some day.

I had never ziplined, my husband is a former paratrooper, both in our 70s. Was it challenging to reach the top to start yes, but the patience and caring shown to us from the beginning to the end from all our guides was one of the many reasons it made our experience memorable, exciting and fun. Oh yes, our fellow zip liners were also amazing!

We had a wonderful time riding with High Country Horses during our stay in Glenorchy. There were just two of us with our one guide and when my partner's horse seemed a little off in the beginning, they quickly and efficiently switched him out for another horse to make sure the ride was as pleasant as possible.

The views were absolutely stunning and I would highly recommend a ride here if you get the chance!
