I went to Shanghai for a lesiure trip. I chose to took the cathay pacific regional airline called Cathay Dragon (DragonAir). Everything was simple, food was very good, seat was comfortable, enterainment system was great, flight attendents were very friendly, it was just the check in and boarding was a bit slow.

Always love to fly with Cathay Dragon, as a matter I always experience a better and sincere service than Cathay Pacific, the inflight attendants are more willing to help. It is heartbroken to know that this excellent brand is going to shut down, thousands of crews will be losing their job, what a shame. HK Express is a crapping airline, always delay and cancel their flights, it should be taken away instead.

As a short haul regional airline, Cathay Dragon has a few advantages: 1. The flights are punctual. This is a real plus as Chinese airlines are known for delayed flights. 2. The Hong Kong airport is a paradise to eat and shop. There are many good eateries and many shops to shop to kill time. 3. The leg room is enough for most passengers. 4. They offer some light snacks which are tasty, especially the local Hong Kong brand biscuits. Will definitely love to fly Cathay Dragon again.

My flight was very short but they provide one hot meal (Rice and Chicken) which is amazing. The cabin crew is fairly nice but not all are. The IFE (TV) is very old because my aircraft was 22 years old A330-342 (B-HLL The one that caught accident as CX780) All in all a nice and simple regional flight. The flight back was the same but with newer IFE (B-LBI)

Dragonair is Cathay Pacific's budget brand that operates all flights from HKG to cities in China. The A330 was clean and comfortable but fitted with 2-2-2 recliner seats rather than 1-2-1 lie flat you might find on Cathay regional or long haul flights. The food was not bad although the presentation was a bit more pedestrian. Still better than a US domestic flight of similar length, especially in the leg room department.
