My mother couldn’t book the flight online, so she went directly to the airport to purchase the ticket. Despite seats being available and the usual fare for the Athens-to-Chania flight ranging from €60 to €100, she was quoted an exorbitant price of €160. Desperate to get home, she agreed to pay it, yet she still couldn’t complete the booking due to a system restriction. Instead, they offered her an alternative option.
The next morning, she was finally able to book a flight—but only at 9 AM and at the same ridiculous price. It’s outrageous that she had to wait 12 hours overnight at the airport simply because of a system restriction. Aegean Airlines has been able to get away with situations like this largely because it is directly subsidized by the Greek government.
To make matters worse, the flight was scheduled to depart at 21:15, and my mother was at the airport an hour prior, yet she couldn’t buy a ticket due to a system issue—WOW, just WOW. And when we reached out to customer support, their response was, “We can’t do anything.”
On top of that, despite being under 23, I cannot access their “GenAIRation” program, even though I have emailed them multiple times about the issue.
A complete failure of customer service and airline management.
