Wonderful help from staff to straighten out booking mix-up!

We luckily arrived very early for our flight from Ulgii to Ulaanbaatar, finding to our dismay that our booking was lost from the reservation system! Many thanks to the fantastic help from the Aero Mongolia desk agent, who made numerous phone calls, straightened out the confusion and got us on the flight. Flight itself on Embraer ERJ145 plane was smooth and comfortable, with great views of the countryside along the way. Flight stopped briefly in Khovd before proceeding to UB. Flight crew was very efficient and professional.

Low hold luggage weight but cost of extra Kgs not so bad

We booked Aero Mongolia, simply because the other internal carrier Hunnu Air (that generally gets better reviews) had no flights on the date we wanted to travel. The plane and staff were okay and the three hour delay on our return journey was notified in advance.

Weird company with comfortable seats

Weird company with little planes but comfortable seats compared with the typical A320. Beware with the checked luggage because they will add your hand luggage to the total weight allowed.

Delayed Flight

Khovd - UlaanbaatarDomesticEconomy

We were booked on the lunch time departure. Plane landed on time, bags went on. Then the plane doors were shut and the crew disappeared for lunch.. We were told flight would be delayed because of high winds at Ulaan Baatar. We were variously advised that delay would be 1 hr, then 3 hours. In the end it was about 4 hours. In the meantime more passengers arrived, after the scheduled departure time, and their bags went on as well. We eventually left about 4 hours late with a full load. When we got to Ulan Baataar there was no wind. Enquires revealed that it had been calm all day there. What we think happened was that they decided to put two flight together to save money and tell us a story. There was no apology, compensation, free drinks or food in the lounge. In addition the inflight pastries handed out were all past their use by date! Never again.

Strange and unreliable airline

Ulaanbaatar - Bayan-Olgii ProvinceDomesticEconomy

I would not choose this airline again. I first read the reviews for this airline after I bought out tickets and hoped that the airline wouldn't change or cancel our flight. Our flight from Ulaanbaatar was fine with no delays and decent service. Our return flight was a different story. I received an email about 3 days ahead of our flight telling us that they had decided to move the flight one day ahead. The problem was that we were trekking in Western Mongolia without any access to email. Not good. We returned to Ulgii on Wednesday afternoon to fly back on Thursday and luckily had our guide phone to check on our flight. Aero Mongolia told us the flight has moved ahead to that evening. We ran and made the flight. No reason was given why the flight was moved ahead by one day. Very strange. Also not good when the flight attendants tell all the old people on the flight to "move faster' and "Go, Go" in English to the foreign passengers to get them to get off the plane faster. Don't fly this airline. Hunnu is far more respected in Mongolia and reliable.
